To say I’m a North Carolina basketball fan would be a bit of an understatement. They’ve had a tough, close losses to Michigan State and Florida, heartbreaking one point losses to Stanford anf Wake Forest and 3 tough losses to Duke, the last of which was aided by of all things, a lane violation during a foul shot, ugh.

However, they won 7 of 10 to end the season. They havvveeee to get in to the Dance. If for nothing else, Thursday’s my birthday, c’mon dude! Plus my Aunt’s this huge, Duke fan, and of course a No.1 seed, I’ll never hear the end of it!!!! (I say that, half kidding, with a smile, and nothing but love)

Add to the fact, this so called, ‘Bracketology’ Expert, Jerry Palm at CBS Sports, has been railing against Carolina for weeks, ‘1-10 in Quad 1 games’ seems to be his only argument of substance. Games by the way that were against Kansas who was #1 at the time, Michigan State, Florida and the three against Duke.

Welp.

To Jerry Palm, stop whining, they’re in. GET OVER IT. Stop writing articles why they shouldn’t be.

‘’North Carolina was placed in Dayton by the NCAA Tournament committee on Sunday as a First Four team. According to Keith Gill, the vice chair of this year’s selection committee, UAB’s loss made all the difference.
“Saturday night, we took our final vote, and we voted in four teams in the field on Saturday night, and we had a contingency vote,” Gill said on Sunday’s selection show on CBS. “And the contingency vote, that was the last team in the field, and it was based on Memphis and UAB. If Memphis won that game, then that was going to free up the spot in the tournament, and that was going to be North Carolina. If UAB had won, then Memphis was going to be in the tournament, UAB would have been in the tournament and North Carolina would have been the first team out.

And so that process played out today. Memphis won, and that put North Carolina in the field.”

FYI that’s from Keith Gil, the VICE CHAIR of the 2025 SELECTION COMMITTEE, who oh by the way knows more than you.

And Im so sorry, Jer, tough life, writer for CBS Sports.com, watching college basketball for a living, opinioning for a living. So, sorry not sorry, you’re unhappy today and the full field of 68 includes the one, you didn’t want.

I’ll be watching Tueaday, will you? Sure you will, but only if they lose, so you can be right for another column.

Let my favorite time of year commence.
